Opera Australia performed their new school production 'El Kid' for Junior School. The hour long performance was based on the story Three Billy Goats Gruff
and the music is taken from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet.
The storyline was of 'Three Billy Goats Gruff". The older two siblings are self-obsessed, arrogant, bossy, vain and conceited. They are very cruel
to their little brother, bossing him around and treating him with disdain and contempt. They are not nice characters. The little one - "the weird little
kid" - is actually very clever and loves to do magic tricks. He desperately wants a friend and is very lonely.
Students enjoyed this production and were pre-warned about the mention of poo, snot etc. One of the songs is entitled 'Stupid Little Kid' so the K-3 classes
have also been taught how powerful words can be and what the Bible tells us about how we should use our words.
The music was brilliant and the performers so talented. Over the previous weeks the children really enjoyed listening and learning in their music lessons all the activities that go along with this show.
