Private Music Tuition

Private music tuition is available for a wide range of instruments. These lessons are provided on school premises by a dedicated group of tutors. Arrangements, and payments, for private lessons are made directly with the appropriate tutor.

Emma Gelding

Piano
Emma is married to Matt and they have three beautiful children; Joel, Laura and Ben. Emma completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours at Sydney University. She holds both LTCL and A.Mus.A diplomas in piano performance and an A.Mus.A diploma in piano accompaniment. Emma thoroughly enjoys teaching piano and has twenty years of experience in this field.

Felicity Stanwell

Clarinet and Saxophone (Alto and Tenor)

Felicity has been tutoring for over 20 years and enjoys motivating students so they come to love performing in Ensembles, Concert Bands, Stage Bands or at Church. She works patiently alongside students and aims to make lessons enjoyable. Felicity has successfully tutored many students through AMEB exams.

Felicity is currently a member of the Northern Beaches Symphonic Wind Ensemble, which has competed in the Australian National A Grade Band Championships and regularly plays in community concerts, including the Manly Jazz Festival. Felicity also tutors at Terrey Hills Public School and from her home studio.

In her time away from tutoring Felicity loves to design, paint and create plus spend time with her husband and three lovely kids!

Joel Conway

Brass (Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium)
Joel has been playing Brass instruments since 2003, when he began learning Euphonium in a Junior School Band program. Joel continued his love of performing throughout High School being involved in Concert Bands, Stage Bands and Vocal Ensembles, including tours of different areas of NSW, and performing on trombone for his HSC Music exam. Joel attends St Pauls Anglican Church in Carlingford where he is involved as a youth group leader and sound engineer and is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Contemporary Music at Macquarie University.

Jordan Middleton

Clarinet, Saxophone (Alto & Tenor)

Jordan is a former student of Covenant and has been teaching and playing the saxophone & clarinet for over 12 years. He has toured nationally with the Sydney Youth Orchestra and has featured on multiple albums as a bass guitar and synthesizer player. His teaching approach is from a technical and an all round perspective, encouraging students to learn the theory and technique behind what they are playing, whilst also having fun and experiencing a love for learning music.

Besides teaching, Jordan is studying a Bachelor of Media at Macquarie University and works as a part-time Designer.

Kim Kennedy

Kim Kennedy is a graduate from the University of Texas with a Degree in piano performance. She has had 20 years of teaching experience, was on full scholarship at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor for full time accompanist for one year. Kim has many years experience of playing in bands and brings a lot of variety into teaching piano. Can teach Kids, teens, adults from beginners to advanced. Teaches AMEB and Trinity exams if needed.

Melissa Khoh

Violin
For Melissa Khoh violin is her primary instrument. She was taught privately and gone through the AMEB syllabus. Teaching for the past 10 years she enjoys equipping others with a love of music. She played in regularly at her church and loves to rock climb.

Michael Butchard

Vocals

Michael Butchard graduated from a Master of Performance [Vocal Performance] from the Royal College of Music, London (RCM) in 2013. Michael also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Music and Germanic Studies) degree from the University of Sydney and an Advanced Diploma of Opera from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Michael has sung with companies across the UK and Australia including English Touring Opera, Garsington Opera and Opera Australia in venues including the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Thalia Theatre in Budapest, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, and the Sydney Opera House.

Besides opera, Michael enjoys oratorio, music theatre and singing in the Choir of St Andrews Cathedral. Michael has taught singing since 2010.

Ryan Trestrail

Drum kit

Ryan has been playing, learning and teaching drums locally for over 11 years collectively. Having studied at Australian Institute of Music, Ryan is adept in a wide range of styles from Blues and Rock to Latin and Jazz. In the classroom, the focus is placed on learning the fundamental skills of reading and playing, while still fostering a love for music in a fun and easy-going environment.

Sarah Clark

Voice

Sarah Clark, Lyric Soprano, completed a BMUS in Classical Performance in Singing at the Australian Institute of Music in 2008. She has also completed AMEB exams in level 7 and 8 for both piano and voice, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Over the last 10 years, she has performed as soloist with Rockdale Opera, FAMS, Willoughby Symphony Choir, and Bathurst Symphony Orchestra and Choir. In 2008, she performed as soloist at the NSW Art Gallery, in a concert for Classical Voice. In recent years she has performed as a concert soloist and as regular soloist with the Northern Beaches Orchestra. She has also completed Estill voice training, and has attended workshops with Harbour City Opera.  She has studied under the tutelage of renowned tenor, Glenn Winslade, for the last 4 years.  Sarah has been teaching singing at Covenant since 2012.
